The volumetric in-line sensors used to detect liquid or gas flow rates are called turbine flow meters. They detect low to medium flow rates, clean, low corrosive, and viscosity fluids. A turbine flowmeter can be divided into two types: a gas turbine flowmeter and a fluid turbine flowmeter. It uses simple, well-understood technology. The measured medium is being sent to the sensor body. This causes the rotor to rotate at a speed that is proportional to its flow rate and velocity. An alternating current voltage pulse is generated as each blade passes through a magnetic field created by the flow meter's magnet pickup.
